Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, wheel chocks, socket set, torque wrench
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Engage the parking brake and place wheel chocks behind the rear tires for safety.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the left front wheel slightly while the vehicle is still on the ground.
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the left front wheel to access the components.
3. Inspect and Replace the CV Joint
  • Tools Required: Pliers, screwdriver, new CV joint (if damaged)
  • Inspect the CV joint and boot for any tears, leaks, or signs of wear.
  • If the boot is damaged, remove the old CV joint by loosening the clamps and pulling the joint off the axle.
  • Install the new CV joint by reversing the removal process, ensuring the boot is properly seated and secured with clamps.
4. Check the Wheel Bearing
  • Spin the hub by hand to check for excessive play or roughness.
  • If the wheel bearing is faulty, remove the old bearing using a bearing puller and install a new one, ensuring it is properly seated.
5. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the left front wheel, tightening the lug nuts by hand.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and then tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specified torque value.
  • Replace any wheel covers if applicable.
