Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather Tools and Parts:
    • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, ratchet, vacuum cleaner or compressed air, dielectric grease.
    • Parts Required: New spark plugs (ensure correct type as per manufacturer specifications), new ignition coil gaskets (if applicable).
2. Disconnect Battery
  • Sub-steps:
    • Locate the negative terminal of the battery.
    • Use a socket to loosen the terminal clamp.
    • Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical shorts.
3. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    • Identify any fasteners or clips securing the engine cover.
    • Use a socket or screwdriver to remove the fasteners.
    • Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    • Locate the ignition coils on top of the engine.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling.
    • Use a socket to remove the bolts securing each ignition coil.
    • Gently pull out the ignition coils from their respective slots.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    • Use a vacuum cleaner or compressed air to clean around the spark plug area to avoid debris falling into the cylinder.
    • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to unscrew each spark plug.
    • Carefully remove the spark plugs from the cylinder head.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (if recommended by the manufacturer).
    • Hand-thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head to avoid cross-threading.
    • Use a torque wrench to tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 13-16 lb-ft).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    • Place each ignition coil back into its corresponding slot.
    • Secure the coils with the bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
8. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    • Align the engine cover back into position.
    • Reinstall any fasteners or clips removed earlier.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Sub-steps:
    • Reconnect the negative battery cable and tighten the terminal clamp.
