Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Tools Required:
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Socket set
    • Oil catch pan
    • Funnel
    • Clean rags
  • Parts Required:
    • New oil filter
    • Engine oil (refer to owner's manual for specifications)
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting the procedure.
    • Be careful of hot engine components.
2. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place the oil catch pan underneath the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow old oil to drain completely.
  • Replace and tighten the drain plug once oil has drained.
3. Remove Old Oil Filter
  • Use the oil filter wrench to loosen the old oil filter by turning it counterclockwise.
  • Carefully remove the oil filter, ensuring that any oil inside the filter drains into the catch pan.
  • Inspect the rubber gasket on the old filter to ensure it has come off with the filter.
4. Install New Oil Filter
  • Apply a small amount of new engine oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Thread the new oil filter onto the oil filter mount by hand and tighten it until snug (about 3/4 turn after the gasket makes contact).
5. Add New Engine Oil
  • Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap.
  • Using a funnel, pour the new engine oil into the engine.
  • Refer to the owner's manual for the correct oil capacity and type.
6. Check Oil Level
  • After adding oil, wait a moment and check the oil level using the dipstick.
  • Add more oil if necessary to reach the recommended level.
7. Start Engine and Check for Leaks
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
  • Check underneath the vehicle for any signs of oil leaks around the oil filter and drain plug.
