Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands or a hydraulic lift
  • Socket set (including 10mm, 14mm, and 17mm sockets)
  • Ratchet and extensions
  • Torque wrench
  • Oxygen sensor socket (if replacing O2 sensors)
  • Pliers
  • Safety glasses and gloves
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to raise the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable before working underneath.
3. Remove the Old Catalytic Converter
  • Locate the catalytic converter on the exhaust system.
  • Remove any heat shields or protective covers if applicable by unscrewing bolts.
  • Disconnect the oxygen sensors using the oxygen sensor socket.
  • Unbolt the catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe using the socket set. Note the torque specifications for reinstallation.
  • Carefully remove the catalytic converter from the vehicle.
4. Install the New Catalytic Converter
  • Position the new catalytic converter in place, aligning it with the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe flanges.
  • Hand-tighten the bolts to secure the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe.
  • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure a proper seal.
  • Reconnect the oxygen sensors and ensure they are properly seated.
5. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall any heat shields or protective covers that were removed.
  • Double-check all connections and bolts for tightness.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and reconnect the battery.
