Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Ratchet
    • Pliers
    • OBD-II scanner
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shocks.
2. Remove the Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    • Locate the fasteners securing the engine cover and remove them using a socket or ratchet.
    • Carefully lift the engine cover off and set it aside to access the ignition coils.
3. Remove the Ignition Coil
  • Sub-steps:
    • Locate the ignition coil you need to replace (typically mounted directly above each spark plug).
    • Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and pulling the connector away from the coil.
    • Remove the bolt(s) securing the ignition coil using the socket set.
    • Gently pull the ignition coil straight out from the spark plug well.
4. Install the New Ignition Coil
  • Sub-steps:
    • Compare the new ignition coil with the old one to ensure they are identical.
    • Insert the new ignition coil into the spark plug well, ensuring it sits securely.
    • Reinstall the bolt(s) and tighten to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 7-10 ft-lbs).
    • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
5. Reinstall the Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    • Position the engine cover back onto the engine.
    • Reinstall the fasteners and tighten them securely.
6. Reconnect the Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tightened.
