Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, U-joint puller or press, grease gun.
  • Safely lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to prevent electrical issues during repair.
2. Remove Driveshaft
  1. Locate the bolts securing the driveshaft to the differential and transmission.
  2. Use the socket set to remove the bolts, ensuring you keep them organized for reinstallation.
  3. Carefully slide the driveshaft out of the transmission and differential, noting the orientation of the driveshaft.
3. Replace U-Joint
  1. Secure the driveshaft in a U-joint puller or press.
  2. Remove the retaining clips from the U-joint using pliers or a small screwdriver.
  3. Press out the old U-joint from the driveshaft.
  4. Apply grease to the new U-joint and install it into the driveshaft, ensuring it's seated properly.
  5. Reinstall the retaining clips to secure the new U-joint.
4. Reinstall Driveshaft
  1. Align the driveshaft with the transmission and differential, ensuring the orientation is correct.
  2. Reattach the bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer-recommended torque specifications.
  3. Reconnect the vehicle battery.
5. Final Check
  • Lower the vehicle and ensure everything is secure.
  • Test the driveshaft by rotating it manually to ensure it moves freely without obstruction.
