Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure electrical safety during the repair process.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which brake pads need inspection/replacement.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands.
3. Remove Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to access the brake assembly.
4. Inspect and Remove Brake Pads
  • Locate the caliper and remove the caliper mounting bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it using a bungee cord or similar method to avoid stress on the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
5. Install New Brake Pads
  • Apply brake grease to the back of the new brake pads (as per manufacturer's specifications) to prevent noise.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring they are seated properly.
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even seating.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and reconnect the battery.
  • Pump the brake pedal a few times to ensure proper pad seating and brake function.
