why does my Toyota Highlander XU70 (2020-Present) lose power when accelerating

Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
• Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

2. Inspect and Replace Air Filter

• Remove the air intake cover using a socket set.
• Take out the air filter and inspect it for dirt and clogs.
• Replace with a new OEM air filter if necessary.

3. Check and Clean Throttle Body

• Remove the intake duct connected to the throttle body.
• Use throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the throttle plate and inside the throttle body.
• Reassemble the intake duct securely.

4. Test and Replace Fuel Pump (if necessary)

• Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail.
• Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position to check fuel pressure readings against manufacturer specifications.
• If the pressure is low, replace the fuel pump.
  • To replace, drain fuel, disconnect fuel lines, and remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank.
  • Install the new fuel pump and reconnect all lines securely.

5. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs

• Remove the ignition coil covers if applicable.

• Reinstall ignition coils and covers securely.
