Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is turned off.
  • Disconnect the battery before working on the A/C system.
2. Recharge Refrigerant
  • Tools Required: Refrigerant gauge set, A/C refrigerant canister
  • Connect the low-pressure side of the refrigerant gauge set to the low-pressure service port.
  • Start the engine and set the A/C to maximum cool.
  • If refrigerant is low, slowly add refrigerant while monitoring the pressure gauge according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Disconnect the gauge set and check for any leaks.
3. Inspect and Replace the A/C Compressor
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, refrigerant recovery machine
  • If the compressor is faulty, recover refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and hoses from the A/C compressor.
  • Remove mounting bolts and take out the compressor.
  • Install the new compressor, ensuring proper alignment and torque specifications are followed.
  • Reconnect hoses and the electrical connector.
4. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool
  • Locate the cabin air filter housing, usually behind the glove box.
  • Remove the glove box or access panel.
  • Take out the old air filter and clean any debris from the housing.
  • Install the new cabin air filter and reassemble the glove box or panel.
