Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  • Remove the ignition coil for cylinder 2:
    • Unplug the electrical connector.
    • Remove the retaining bolts using a socket set.
    • Pull out the ignition coil.
  • Remove the spark plug:
    • Use a spark plug socket to carefully unscrew and remove the spark plug.
    • Inspect the old spark plug for wear or damage.
  • Install a new spark plug:
    • Gap the new spark plug to manufacturer specifications (usually around 0.044 inches).
    • Install the new spark plug and torque it to the specified value (typically 13 lb-ft).
  • Reinstall the ignition coil:
    • Place the ignition coil back and secure it with the bolts.
    • Reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Replace Fuel Injector (if required)
  • If the fuel injector inspection indicated issues, proceed with replacement:
    • Disconnect the fuel line (use caution as fuel may spray).
    • Unplug the electrical connector from the fuel injector.
    • Remove any retaining clips or screws.
    • Pull out the old fuel injector.
  • Install the new fuel injector:
    • Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-ring of the new injector.
    • Insert the new injector and secure it with the retaining clips.
    • Reconnect the electrical connector and fuel line.
4. Clear Codes and Test
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0302 code.
  • Start the engine and observe for any check engine light re-illuminating.
