Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: small flathead screwdriver, multimeter (optional), and the replacement key fob battery.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a secure environment.
2. Inspect Battery Installation
  • Use the small flathead screwdriver to gently open the key fob casing.
  • Remove the old battery and carefully install the new battery, ensuring it is seated correctly with the positive (+) side facing the correct direction.
  • Reassemble the key fob casing securely.
3. Clean Contacts
  • Inspect the internal contacts of the key fob for any corrosion or dirt.
  • Clean the contacts with a soft cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reassembling the key fob.
4. Reprogram the Key Fob
  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position (do not start the engine).
  • Turn the key back to the "OFF" position and remove it.
  • Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob while reinserting the key into the ignition and turning it back to "ON" for several seconds.
  • Turn the key back to "OFF" and remove it again. Test the key fob to see if it has been successfully reprogrammed.
5. Verify Functionality
  • Test the key fob by pressing the lock/unlock buttons and ensuring the vehicle responds.
  • If the key fob still does not function, consider seeking professional assistance for further diagnostics or potential replacement.
