Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure it with jack stands.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level; add fluid if low.
  • If fluid is contaminated, proceed to flush and replace it:
    1. Disconnect the return hose from the pump.
    2. Use a turkey baster to remove old fluid from the reservoir.
    3. Reconnect the hose and fill the reservoir with new fluid.
  • Start the engine and turn the wheel to bleed air from the system.
3. Inspect and Replace Worn Components
  • Steering Rack:

    1. Remove any necessary components obstructing access (e.g., air intake).
    2. Unbolt the steering rack from the subframe.
    3. Disconnect the inner tie rods and any electrical connectors.
    4. Replace with a new steering rack if damaged.
  • CV Joints:

    1. Lift the vehicle and remove the front wheels.
    2. Inspect the CV boots for tears; replace if damaged.
    3. If CV joints are worn, unbolt the axle from the hub and remove it.
    4. Replace with a new CV axle.
  • Wheel Bearings:

    1. Remove the wheel and brake assembly.
    2. Unbolt the hub assembly and remove it.
    3. Replace the bearing using a press or appropriate tool.
    4. Reassemble the hub and brake assembly.
4. Reassemble and Test
  • Reassemble any components removed during inspection and repair.
  • Ensure all bolts are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reconnect the battery.
