Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: OBD-II scanner, multimeter, socket set, replacement bulbs (if needed), and cleaning supplies.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
2. Inspect and Replace Headlight Bulbs
  • Sub-step 1: Open the hood and locate the headlight assembly.
  • Sub-step 2: Remove the headlight assembly by unscrewing the retaining screws or clips.
  • Sub-step 3: Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the headlight bulb.
  • Sub-step 4: Remove the old bulb from the socket and replace it with a new bulb, taking care not to touch the glass part with bare hands.
  • Sub-step 5: Reconnect the electrical connector and reinstall the headlight assembly.
3. Check and Clean Battery Connections
  • Sub-step 1: Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal using a wrench.
  • Sub-step 2: Inspect the terminal for corrosion. Clean any corrosion with a wire brush and a mixture of baking soda and water.
  • Sub-step 3: Reconnect the negative terminal securely.
4. Test and Replace Fuses
  • Sub-step 1: Open the fuse box and locate the fuse for the headlights.
  • Sub-step 2: Remove the fuse and check if it is blown (the wire inside will be broken).
  • Sub-step 3: Replace the fuse with one of the same amperage rating.
5. Verify Alternator Output
  • Sub-step 1: Start the engine and connect the multimeter to the battery terminals.
  • Sub-step 2: Observe the voltage reading; it should be between 13.5-14.5 volts.
  • Sub-step 3: If the reading is below this range, the alternator may need replacement.
