Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Spark plug socket
    • Ratchet
    • Extension bar
    • Anti-seize compound (optional)
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the replacement.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate and remove any retaining bolts or clips securing the engine cover.
    2. Gently lift and remove the engine cover to access the ignition coils and spark plugs.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector from each ignition coil.
    2. Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using the socket set.
    3. Carefully pull out each ignition coil to expose the spark plugs.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Using a spark plug socket, carefully unscrew and remove each spark plug from the cylinder head.
    2. Inspect the old spark plugs for wear or damage and note the condition.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Check and adjust the gap on the new spark plugs according to manufacturer specifications.
    2. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads (optional).
    3. Hand-tighten the new spark plugs into the cylinder head, then use a torque wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer-recommended torque specification (typically around 13-15 ft-lbs).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place each ignition coil back into its respective position and secure them with bolts.
    2. Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Position the engine cover back onto the engine.
    2. Secure it with the previously removed bolts or clips.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
