Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and securely supported with jack stands.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Identify the Source of the Leak
  • Tools Required: Brake line wrench, socket set, flashlight.
  • Inspect the entire brake line system, including hoses, fittings, and calipers:
    • Use a flashlight to look for wet spots or staining caused by brake fluid.
    • Check the brake master cylinder for leaks around the seals.
3. Replace Damaged Components
  • If the leak is found in the brake lines or hoses:

    • Tools Required: Socket set, brake line flaring tool, tube cutter.
    • Cut the damaged section of brake line or hose using a tube cutter.
    • Flare the end of the new brake line if applicable, and attach it using the appropriate fittings.
    • If a hose is damaged, replace it with a new one, ensuring proper routing and securing it with clamps.
  • If the master cylinder is leaking:

    • Tools Required: Wrench set, brake fluid.
    • Disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder.
    • Remove the master cylinder mounting bolts and take out the old unit.
    • Install the new master cylinder, ensuring O-rings and gaskets are properly seated.
    • Reconnect the brake lines and torque to manufacturer specifications.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, assistant (optional).
  • Fill the master cylinder with new brake fluid.
  • Start bleeding each brake caliper or wheel cylinder, working from the farthest to the closest to the master cylinder:
    • Have an assistant pump the brake pedal while you open and close the bleeder valve at each wheel.
    • Repeat until no air bubbles are visible in the fluid.
