Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials needed.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shock.
2. Battery Inspection
  • Tools Required: Multimeter, wire brush or battery terminal cleaner, wrench set.
  • Clean any corrosion from the battery terminals using a wire brush.
  • Reconnect the battery terminal and retest the voltage.
3. Alternator Testing
  • Tools Required: Multimeter, safety goggles.
  • Start the vehicle and measure the voltage at the battery terminals; it should read between 13.7 to 14.7 volts.
  • If the voltage is low, the alternator may need to be replaced.
4. Replace the Battery (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Remove the negative terminal first, then the positive terminal from the old battery.
  • Remove the battery hold-down bracket and lift the old battery out.
  • Place the new battery in the tray and secure it with the hold-down bracket.
  • Connect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal.
5. Replace the Alternator (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Remove any components obstructing access to the alternator (e.g., air intake duct).
  • Unplug the electrical connectors from the alternator.
  • Remove the serpentine belt from the alternator pulley.
  • Unscrew and remove the alternator from the engine.
  • Install the new alternator and reassemble all components in reverse order.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and test the system.
