Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the ignition is off.
  • Gather safety equipment, including gloves and safety glasses.
2. Check Tire Pressure
  • Remove valve caps from each tire.
  • Using a tire pressure gauge, measure the pressure in each tire.
  • Inflate or deflate tires to match the recommended pressure found on the driver’s side door jamb.
3. Inspect and Replace TPMS Sensors
  • Tools Required: Tire iron, jack, jack stands, TPMS sensor tool, socket set.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and securely place it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel using the tire iron.
  • Inspect the TPMS sensor attached to the valve stem for damage or corrosion.
  • If a sensor is damaged, remove the old sensor by unscrewing it from the valve stem.
  • Install the new TPMS sensor by screwing it onto the valve stem and ensuring it is secure.
4. Reset TPMS
  • Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (do not start the engine).
  • Locate the TPMS reset button usually located beneath the steering wheel or in the glove compartment.
  • Press and hold the reset button until the TPMS light blinks three times and then turns off.
  • Start the vehicle and allow it to run for about 20 minutes to complete the reset.
5. Final Inspection
  • Reinstall the wheel and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically 76 ft-lbs).
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and recheck tire pressures.
  • Test drive the vehicle to ensure TPMS warning light is off and sensors are functioning correctly.
