Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
2. Address Oil Filter and Drain Plug
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan.
  • Remove the oil catch pan under the engine.
  • Loosen and remove the oil filter using the oil filter wrench; ensure the old gasket is removed.
  • Inspect and replace the oil drain plug washer if it is damaged.
  • Reinstall the new oil filter by hand-tightening it and then following up with a 3/4 turn.
3. Replace Front Crankshaft Seal
  • Tools Required: Socket set, puller tool, seal installer, RTV silicone sealant.
  • Remove any components obstructing access to the front crankshaft seal.
  • Remove the crankshaft pulley using the appropriate socket.
  • Use the puller tool to extract the old crankshaft seal carefully.
  • Clean the sealing surface and apply RTV silicone sealant as needed.
  • Install the new seal using the seal installer, ensuring it is flush with the block.
  • Reinstall the crankshaft pulley and torque to the manufacturer’s specifications.
4. Replace Oil Pan Gasket (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, gasket scraper, new oil pan gasket.
  • Drain the engine oil completely into the oil catch pan.
  • Remove the oil pan by unscrewing the bolts with a socket set.
  • Scrape off the old gasket material from both the oil pan and engine block surfaces.
  • Place the new oil pan gasket onto the oil pan and reinstall the oil pan, tightening the bolts to the specified torque.
  • Refill the engine with new oil according to the specifications.
