Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, screwdriver, pliers.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely supported by jack stands before starting.
2. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels using a lug wrench.
  2. Raise the vehicle using a jack.
  3. Secure the vehicle on jack stands.
  4. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the front wheels.
3. Disassemble Strut Assembly
  1. Locate the strut assembly at the front suspension.
  2. Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket set.
  3. Disconnect any brake lines or ABS sensors attached to the strut.
  4. Remove the nuts securing the strut to the upper mount using a socket set.
  5. Carefully remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
4. Replace Strut
  1. Use a strut spring compressor to compress the coil spring on the strut assembly.
  2. Remove the top nut on the strut mount to take off the strut from the spring.
  3. Replace the old strut with the new one, ensuring proper alignment with the mount.
  4. Reattach the coil spring to the new strut, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  5. Remove the spring compressor carefully once the strut and spring are secured.
5. Reinstall Strut Assembly
  1. Position the strut assembly back into the vehicle and secure it with the upper mount nuts.
  2. Reattach the lower portion of the strut to the steering knuckle using the previously removed bolts.
  3. Reconnect any brake lines or ABS sensors that were disconnected.
6. Reinstall Wheels
  1. Place the wheels back onto the wheel hubs.
  2. Hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  3. Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
  4. Use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specification.
