Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, ratchet, feeler gauge, anti-seize compound, dielectric grease.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
  • Allow the engine to cool down if it has been running.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Remove any screws or clips securing the engine cover.
  • Gently lift off the engine cover and set aside.
3. Access the Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coils on top of the engine; these will be above the spark plugs.
  • For each ignition coil:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the tab and pulling it off.
    2. Remove the bolt securing the ignition coil using a socket.
    3. Carefully pull the ignition coil straight up to avoid damaging it.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Using a spark plug socket, carefully unscrew and remove each spark plug.
  • Inspect each plug for signs of wear, such as carbon buildup or damage.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge; adjust if necessary to match manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs.
  • Carefully screw in each new spark plug by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 13-16 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boot.
  • Reinsert each ignition coil into its respective spark plug hole and secure it with the bolt.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector to each ignition coil.
7. Replace Engine Cover
  • If removed, place the engine cover back on and secure it with screws or clips.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reattach the negative battery terminal.
