Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe location and the battery is disconnected if needed.
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver, replacement battery (usually CR2032), OBD-II scanner (if testing signal).
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  • Open the key fob using a flathead screwdriver in the seam of the fob.
  • Carefully remove the old battery and replace it with a new CR2032 battery, ensuring the positive side is facing up.
  • Snap the fob casing back together securely.
3. Test Key Fob
  • Stand close to the vehicle and press any button on the key fob.
  • Check if the vehicle responds to the key fob commands (lock/unlock).
  • If the key fob still does not work, proceed to the next step.
4. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)
  • Enter the vehicle and close all doors.
  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position (but not starting the engine).
  • Turn the key back to "OFF" and remove it.
  • Repeat this process 5 times in quick succession (within 10 seconds) until the door locks cycle, indicating the vehicle is in programming mode.
  • Press any button on the key fob to program it. The locks will cycle again to confirm programming.
  • Turn the ignition to "OFF" to exit programming mode.
