Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle's battery to ensure safety during the repair.
  • Allow the vehicle to cool down if it has been running.
2. Accessing the Fuel Sender Unit
  • Tools Required: Socket set, flathead screwdriver, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Remove the rear seat cushion or access panel (depending on model) to reach the fuel tank access cover.
  • Unscrew and remove the access cover to expose the fuel sender unit.
3. Remove Fuel Sender Unit
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel sender.
  • Use the appropriate socket to unscrew the retaining ring holding the fuel sender in place.
  • Carefully lift the fuel sender unit out of the tank, taking care not to damage the float arm.
4. Inspect and Test Fuel Sender
  • Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the sender. It should change as you move the float arm up and down.
  • If the readings are outside the manufacturer's specifications, replace the fuel sender.
5. Install New Fuel Sender (if applicable)
  • If replacing, install the new fuel sender by carefully lowering it back into the tank.
  • Secure it with the retaining ring and reconnect the electrical connector.
  • Reinstall the access cover and rear seat cushion.
6. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
  • Start the vehicle and observe the fuel gauge to ensure it reflects the correct fuel level.
