Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves for protection.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Pry bar
  • Rubber mallet
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which suspension is noisy.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove Wheel
  • Using a socket set, remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the suspension components.
4. Inspect and Replace Components

A. Shock Absorbers/Struts

  • Check for oil leakage and physical damage. If damaged:
    1. Remove the top mounting bolts.
    2. Disconnect the bottom bolt connecting the strut to the knuckle.
    3. Install new shock absorbers/struts and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.

B. Sway Bar Links

  • Inspect the sway bar links for wear:
    1. If worn, remove the nuts securing the links to the sway bar and control arm.
    2. Replace with new sway bar links and torque to specification.

C. Control Arms

  • Inspect control arms and bushings:
    1. If damaged, remove the bolts securing the control arm to the frame and knuckle.
    2. Replace with new control arm and bushings, and torque to specifications.
5. Reassemble
  • Reattach the wheel and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
