Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
    • Tools Required:
      • Socket set
      • Screwdriver set
      • Throttle body cleaner
      • Soft cloth or microfiber towel
      • Torque wrench
      • Safety goggles
      • Gloves
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and the engine is cool.
2. Disconnect Battery
  • Use a socket wrench to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical issues.
  • Safety Warning: Always disconnect the battery when working on electronic components.
3. Remove Air Intake Duct
  • Loosen the clamps using a screwdriver and remove the air intake duct from the throttle body.
  • Set aside the duct carefully to avoid damage.
4. Remove Throttle Body
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body.
  • Remove any bolts securing the throttle body using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully pull the throttle body off the intake manifold, ensuring the gasket remains intact or is replaced if damaged.
5. Clean Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a soft cloth or directly onto the throttle body surfaces. Avoid over-saturating the cleaner.
  • Use the cloth to wipe down the inside of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and walls where carbon deposits are present.
  • Open the throttle plate manually to clean behind it effectively.
  • Ensure no cleaner enters the intake manifold during the process.
6. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Position the throttle body back onto the intake manifold with a new or cleaned gasket.
  • Tighten the bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 89 in-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
7. Reattach Air Intake Duct
  • Position the air intake duct back onto the throttle body.
  • Secure it with clamps using a screwdriver.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
