Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Fuel Injectors
  • Tools Required: Socket set, pliers, flathead screwdriver.
  1. Remove the engine cover (if applicable) by unscrewing any retaining bolts.
  2. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors by pressing the release tab and pulling them off.
  3. Carefully remove the fuel rail bolts using a socket wrench.
  4. Gently lift the fuel rail away from the intake manifold, ensuring not to damage any attached components.
  5. Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel rail by pulling them straight out.
3. Clean Fuel Injectors
  • Tools Required: Fuel injector cleaning kit or ultrasonic cleaner, cleaning solvent.
  1. If using a cleaning kit, follow the manufacturer's instructions to set up the cleaning device.
  2. If using an ultrasonic cleaner, submerge the injectors in the cleaning solvent and run the cleaner for the recommended time.
  3. After cleaning, ensure all injector nozzles are free of debris and residue.
4. Reinstall Fuel Injectors
  1. Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-rings of the fuel injectors to ensure a proper seal.
  2. Reinstall the cleaned fuel injectors into the fuel rail until they are seated properly.
  3. Place the fuel rail back onto the intake manifold and secure it with bolts, ensuring to torque them to manufacturer's specifications.
  4. Reconnect the electrical connectors to the fuel injectors.
5. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reinstall the engine cover (if removed).
  2. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Reinsert the fuel pump fuse and turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start) to pressurize the fuel system.
  4. Check for any fuel leaks around the injectors and fuel rail connections.
