Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather Tools and Supplies
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Socket set
    • Drain pan
    • Funnel
    • New oil filter
    • Engine oil (5W-20 or 0W-20, as specified)
    • Rags for cleanup
  • Safety Precautions
    • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
    • Engage the parking brake.
2. Drain Old Oil
  • Locate the Oil Drain Plug
    • Position the drain pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the Drain Plug
    • Use the socket set to loosen and remove the drain plug.
    • Allow the old oil to completely drain into the pan.
  • Reinstall the Drain Plug
    • Once drained, clean the drain plug and reinstall it, tightening to manufacturer specifications (typically around 30 ft-lbs).
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Remove Old Oil Filter
    • Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter. Be cautious as it may still contain old oil.
  • Prepare New Oil Filter
    • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter to ensure a good seal.
  • Install New Oil Filter
    • Screw in the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten slightly more (about 3/4 turn).
4. Add New Oil
  • Locate Oil Fill Cap
    • Remove the oil fill cap on the top of the engine.
  • Add New Oil
    • Using a funnel, pour the specified amount of new engine oil (approximately 4.5 quarts for this model).
  • Replace Oil Fill Cap
    • Securely reinstall the oil fill cap.
5. Check Oil Level
  • Start the Engine
    • Let the engine run for a minute to circulate the new oil.
  • Check Oil Level Again
    • Turn off the engine, wait a few minutes, and use the dipstick to check the oil level, adding more oil if necessary to reach the full mark.
