Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, ratchet, dielectric grease, and cleaner (optional).
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting the replacement process.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Use the socket set to remove any screws or bolts holding the engine cover in place.
  • Carefully lift the cover off and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coils on top of the engine (typically 1 coil per cylinder).
  • Remove the electrical connector from each ignition coil by pressing the tab and pulling it off.
  • Use the socket set to remove the bolts securing the ignition coils and lift the coils out of their respective positions.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Using the spark plug socket and extension, carefully unscrew and remove each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect each spark plug for wear and carbon buildup as you remove them.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Ensure that the new spark plugs are the correct type as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to aid installation.
  • Hand-tighten each spark plug into its respective hole, then use a torque wrench to tighten to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 13-15 lb-ft).
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Place each ignition coil back into its position and secure it with the bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil, ensuring they click into place.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with the previously removed screws or bolts.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
