Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gap gauge, spark plug socket, dielectric grease, anti-seize compound.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the replacement process.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Locate and remove any fasteners securing the engine cover (typically screws or clips).
  • Gently lift the engine cover to expose the spark plugs.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Disconnect the ignition coil connectors by gently pulling them off.
  • Remove the bolts securing the ignition coils using a socket.
  • Carefully pull out the ignition coils from the spark plug wells.
  • Use a spark plug socket to loosen and remove the old spark plugs by turning counterclockwise.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (if not pre-coated).
  • Check the spark plug gap using a gap gauge and adjust as needed to match the manufacturer’s specifications (typically 0.044 inches for E140).
  • Insert the new spark plugs into the wells and hand-tighten them initially.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer’s specification (usually around 13-15 lb-ft).
5. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boots.
  • Reinstall the ignition coils over the spark plugs and secure them with bolts.
  • Reconnect the ignition coil connectors.
6. Replace Engine Cover
  • Position the engine cover back in place and secure it with the previously removed fasteners.
