Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Use wheel chocks to secure the rear wheels.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which struts are being inspected or replaced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  • Place the wheel aside in a safe location.
4. Inspect the Strut Assembly
  • Check the strut for any signs of oil leaking.
  • Inspect the boot for tears or cracks.
  • If the strut is leaking, it will need to be replaced.
5. Replace the Strut (if necessary)
  • 5.1. Disconnect the strut from the lower control arm
    • Remove the bolt securing the strut to the control arm using a socket and ratchet.
  • 5.2. Remove the top strut mount
    • Open the hood and locate the strut mount on the top of the strut tower.
    • Remove the three nuts securing the strut mount using a socket.
  • 5.3. Install the new strut
    • Position the new strut in place and secure it to the top mount with the three nuts.
    • Reconnect the strut to the lower control arm with the bolt and tighten to the specified torque.
  • 5.4. Reinstall the wheel
    • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Use a torque wrench to finish tightening the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
