Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
2. Identify and Remove the Source of the Leak
  • Oil Filter Inspection

    • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter.
    • Inspect the rubber O-ring on the filter for damage or deformation.
    • Clean the mounting surface on the engine where the filter attaches.
  • Front Crankshaft Seal Replacement

    • Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner with a socket.
    • Remove the crankshaft pulley using a socket and ratchet.
    • Carefully pry out the old crankshaft seal with a seal puller.
    • Lubricate the new seal with engine oil and press it into place evenly using a seal installer tool.
3. Reassemble and Fill
  • Install New Oil Filter

    • Apply a thin layer of oil to the O-ring of the new oil filter.
    • Install the new oil filter, hand-tightening it securely.
  • Reinstall Components

    • Reattach the crankshaft pulley and serpentine belt, ensuring proper alignment.
    • Reconnect the negative battery cable.
4. Add Engine Oil
  • Refill the engine with the appropriate type and quantity of oil as specified in the owner’s manual.
  • Start the engine and allow it to run briefly, checking for leaks around the oil filter and crankshaft seal.
