Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Using a jack, lift the front or rear of the vehicle as needed.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands.
3. Remove Wheel
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to access the brake assembly.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspect Brake Pads:

    • Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and suspend it with a bungee cord (do not let it hang by the brake line).
    • Check the thickness of the brake pads; replace if less than 3mm.
  • Replace Brake Pads:

    • If pads are worn, remove them from the caliper bracket.
    • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to prevent squeaking.
    • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Inspect Brake Rotors
  • Check the surface of the rotors for evenness and any scoring.
  • If rotors are damaged or worn beyond specifications, replace them.
6. Reassemble Components
  • Slide the caliper back over the new brake pads and secure it with the caliper bolts.
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten lug nuts in a star pattern to manufacturer specifications.
7. Lower the Vehicle and Test
  • Carefully lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to restore brake pressure.
  • Test drive the vehicle to ensure the squeaking noise has been resolved.
