Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves for protection.

Tools Required:

  • Jack and jack stands
  • Socket set
  • Torque wrench
  • Wrench set
2. Lift the Vehicle
  1. Use a jack to raise the front or rear of the vehicle (depending on which shocks need replacement).
  2. Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Remove Old Shock Absorbers
  1. Locate the top and bottom mounting points of the shock absorber.
  2. Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the bolts at both ends.
  3. Carefully pull the shock absorber out of its mounting position.
4. Install New Shock Absorbers
  1. Align the new shock absorber with the mounting points.
  2. Insert the top end of the shock into the mount and secure it with bolts, tightening to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically 15-25 ft-lbs).
  3. Attach the bottom of the shock absorber in the same manner, ensuring all bolts are securely tightened.
5. Lower the Vehicle
  1. Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle using the jack.
  2. Tighten all bolts to the correct torque specifications once the vehicle is back on the ground.
