Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: OBD-II scanner, socket set, torque wrench, compression tester, noid light, multimeter, replacement spark plug and ignition coil (if necessary).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  • Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)

    • Use a socket set to unbolt the engine cover and set it aside.
  • Remove Spark Plug

    • Disconnect the ignition coil connector for cylinder 2.
    • Remove the ignition coil by unscrewing it.
    • Use a spark plug socket to remove the spark plug from cylinder 2.
  • Install New Spark Plug

    • Gap the new spark plug to the manufacturer’s specifications.
    • Install the new spark plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specification (usually around 13-15 lb-ft).
    • Reinstall the ignition coil and reconnect its connector.
3. Replace Ignition Coil (if necessary)
  • Follow the steps in "Remove Spark Plug" to access the ignition coil.
  • Remove the faulty ignition coil and replace it with a new one.
  • Reconnect all connectors and ensure they are secure.
4. Clean or Replace Fuel Injector (if necessary)
  • If the noid light test indicates a problem, remove the fuel injector for cylinder 2.
  • Clean the injector using a specialized cleaner or replace it if necessary.
  • Reinstall the injector ensuring proper sealing.
5. Verify Compression (if necessary)
  • Connect a compression tester to cylinder 2’s spark plug hole.
  • Crank the engine and record the compression reading.
  • Compare the reading to manufacturer specifications. If low, further diagnose for internal engine issues.
