Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: throttle body cleaner, clean rags, screwdrivers, ratchet and socket set, and a torque wrench.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Air Intake Duct
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Loosen the clamps securing the air intake duct to the throttle body using a screwdriver.
    2. Carefully remove the duct and set it aside, ensuring no dirt enters the engine.
3. Access and Remove Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body by pressing the release tab.
    2. Unbolt the throttle body from the intake manifold using a ratchet and socket (typically 10mm bolts), and lift it off gently.
    3. Place the throttle body on a clean work surface.
4. Clean Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean rag or directly onto the throttle plate.
    2. Gently wipe the inside of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate, to remove carbon deposits and grime.
    3. Open the throttle plate manually (if applicable) to clean the back side.
    4. Ensure no cleaner residue is left behind; use a dry rag to wipe away excess cleaner.
5. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Position the throttle body back onto the intake manifold and secure it with bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer’s specified torque (usually around 15-20 ft-lbs).
    2. Reconnect the electrical connector ensuring it clicks into place.
6. Reinstall Air Intake Duct
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Position the air intake duct back onto the throttle body.
    2. Tighten the clamps securely to prevent air leaks.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tightened.
