Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, feeler gauge, dielectric grease, anti-seize compound.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting work.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Ignition Coils
  1. Locate the ignition coils on top of the engine.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each coil.
  3. Remove the bolts securing the coils using a socket set.
  4. Carefully lift the coils out of their sockets.
3. Remove Spark Plugs
  1. Use a spark plug socket to carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  2. Inspect each spark plug for damage or excessive wear, such as cracks or heavy deposits.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  1. Check the new spark plugs for proper gap using a feeler gauge; adjust if necessary to the manufacturer's specification (typically 0.043 inches).
  2. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs.
  3. Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  4. Use a torque wrench to tighten each spark plug to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 13 ft-lbs).
5. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  1. Place the ignition coils back into their respective sockets.
  2. Secure the coils with the bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
  3. Ensure all connections are tight and secured.
6. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
