Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Brake fluid
    • Wrench set
    • Brake bleeder kit
    • Screwdriver
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Inspect and Refill Brake Fluid
  • Open the hood and locate the brake master cylinder.
  • Check the brake fluid level; if low, add the appropriate brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4 as specified in the owner's manual).
  • Secure the cap back on.
3. Bleed the Brake System
  • Starting with the wheel furthest from the master cylinder, use a wrench to loosen the bleeder valve on the brake caliper.
  • Attach a clear hose to the bleeder valve and place the other end into a container.
  • Have an assistant pump the brake pedal several times and hold it down.
  • Open the bleeder valve slightly to allow air and fluid to escape until only fluid flows, then close the valve.
  • Repeat this process at each wheel, in order from furthest to closest to the master cylinder.
4. Inspect Brakes and Components
  • Remove the wheel to access the brake caliper and pads.
  • Check for excessive wear on brake pads and ensure they are not contaminated.
  • Inspect the caliper for leaks and proper operation.
  • Replace any worn or damaged brake pads and calipers as necessary.
5. Test Brake Booster
  • With the engine off, pump the brake pedal until it feels hard and does not sink further.
  • Start the engine while pressing down on the brake pedal; it should drop slightly, indicating the brake booster is functioning properly.
  • If the pedal does not drop, the brake booster may need replacement.
