Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Drain pan
    • Coolant flush kit (optional)
    • Funnel
    • Safety goggles and gloves
  • Ensure the engine is cool and parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Drain Old Coolant
  1. Locate the radiator drain valve at the bottom of the radiator.
  2. Place a drain pan underneath the radiator.
  3. Open the drain valve and allow the old coolant to fully drain out.
  4. Once drained, close the drain valve securely.
3. Flush the System
  1. Fill the radiator with clean distilled water using a funnel.
  2. Start the engine and let it idle for about 10-15 minutes with the heater turned on to circulate the water.
  3. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool.
  4. Drain the distilled water from the radiator using the drain valve again.
4. Add New Coolant
  1. Close the drain valve once the system is drained.
  2. Mix the new coolant with distilled water as per manufacturer specifications (usually a 50/50 mix).
  3. Pour the new coolant mixture into the radiator using a funnel until full.
  4. Fill the coolant reservoir to the recommended level.
5. Bleed the Cooling System
  1. Start the engine and allow it to idle with the radiator cap off.
  2. Watch for bubbles in the radiator, which indicates trapped air.
  3. Once bubbles stop appearing, replace the radiator cap securely.
  4. Turn on the heater to the maximum setting to ensure all air is expelled.
