Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Inspect and Replace the O2 Sensors
  1. Remove the upstream O2 sensor:
    • Locate the upstream O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold.
    • Use an O2 sensor socket to carefully unscrew it.
    • Disconnect the wiring harness from the sensor.
  2. Install the new upstream O2 sensor:
    • Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new sensor (if not pre-applied).
    • Screw the new sensor in, and tighten to manufacturer torque specifications (typically around 30 Nm).
    • Reconnect the wiring harness.
  3. Remove the downstream O2 sensor (if necessary):
    • Repeat the removal process for the downstream sensor located after the catalytic converter.
  4. Install the new downstream O2 sensor:
