Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical hazards.
2. Recover Refrigerant
  • Tools Required: A/C recovery machine
  • Connect the recovery machine to the A/C service ports (high and low side).
  • Follow the recovery machine instructions to safely remove refrigerant from the system.
3. Locate and Repair the Leak
  • Tools Required: A/C leak detection dye, UV light, wrench set, replacement O-rings or hoses
  • Inject A/C leak detection dye into the system.
  • Use the UV light to inspect for leaks in the A/C components.
  • If a leak is found at a connection, replace the O-ring or tighten the fitting.
  • If a hose or component is damaged, replace it with a new part.
4. Recharge the A/C System
  • Tools Required: Manifold gauge set, refrigerant (R-134a or as specified)
  • Connect the manifold gauge set to the A/C service ports.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s specifications for the correct refrigerant amount.
  • Open the low-side valve and allow refrigerant to flow into the system until the proper pressure is reached.
5. Verify Repair
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and turn on the A/C to the maximum setting.
  • Monitor for any abnormal noise and ensure the system is cooling effectively.
