Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical issues.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and support it securely with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels using a lug wrench.
3. Remove the Tie Rod End
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench, tie rod end puller
  • Remove the cotter pin from the tie rod end nut if applicable.
  • Use a socket to remove the tie rod end nut, then employ a tie rod end puller to separate the tie rod from the steering knuckle.
  • Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering rack if necessary.
4. Install New Tie Rod End
  • Apply a small amount of lubricant to the threads of the new tie rod end.
  • Connect the new tie rod end to the steering rack and secure it with the nut, tightening it to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 50-70 ft-lbs).
  • Reattach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and secure it with the nut and cotter pin.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the front wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Reconnect the battery.
