Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: a clean lint-free cloth and possibly a funnel for adding fluid.
  • Ensure safety by wearing gloves and eye protection if needed.
2. Check Fluid Level
  • Start the vehicle and let it idle until it reaches normal operating temperature (about 10 minutes).
  • With the engine running, shift the gear selector through all positions (P, R, N, D) and return to 'Park' to circulate the fluid.
  • Turn off the engine and allow it to settle for a minute.
  • Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and then reinsert it fully to ensure an accurate reading.
  • Remove the dipstick again and observe the fluid level. It should be within the marked range on the dipstick.
3. Add Fluid (if necessary)
  • If the fluid level is low, place a funnel into the dipstick tube and add the specified transmission fluid type (typically Toyota ATF WS).
  • Add fluid in small increments, checking the level after each addition until it reaches the correct mark.
  • Reinsert the dipstick and ensure it is seated properly.
4. Final Inspection
  • Examine the condition of the fluid. If the fluid is dark brown or has particles, consider a transmission fluid change.
  • If any leaks are detected around the transmission or dipstick area, inspect and repair as necessary.
