Solution

1. Preparation

• Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
• Gather tools and safety equipment, including gloves and safety goggles.

2. Remove Wheel

• Loosen lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
• Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
• Remove lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.

3. Inspect and Replace Brake Rotors

• Check the thickness of the brake rotors with a micrometer; replace if below specifications.
• If warped, remove the caliper by unbolting it from the bracket.
• Remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws and pulling it off the hub.
• Install new rotors, ensuring they are clean and free of grease.
• Torque the retaining screws to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 80-100 ft-lbs).

4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads

• Remove the brake pads from the caliper bracket.
• Inspect the pads for uneven wear; replace if necessary.
• Apply brake grease to the backing of the new pads and install them into the caliper bracket.

5. Reassemble and Test

• Reattach the caliper over the new pads and torque the caliper bolts to specifications.
• Reinstall the wheel and torque the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to the manufacturer's specification (usually around 75-85 ft-lbs).
