Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during repair.
2. Replace Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove the ignition coils by unscrewing the retaining bolts and lifting them out.
    2. Use a spark plug socket to unscrew and remove the old spark plugs.
    3. Inspect the condition of the old spark plugs to determine if they were the cause of the hesitation.
    4. Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs and install them hand-tight.
    5. Torque the new spark plugs to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 13-15 ft-lbs).
    6. Reinstall the ignition coils and secure them with the retaining bolts.
3. Clean or Replace Air Filter
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the air filter housing and open it by unclipping or unscrewing it.
    2. Remove the old air filter and inspect for dirt and debris.
    3. If dirty, clean the housing with a soft cloth and install a new air filter.
    4. Close and secure the air filter housing.
4. Clean Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector and any vacuum hoses.
    2. Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold by unscrewing the retaining bolts.
    3. Use throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the inside of the throttle body thoroughly.
    4. Reinstall the throttle body and reconnect the electrical connector and vacuum hoses.
5. Check and Replace Fuel Filter (if necessary)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the fuel filter along the fuel line.
    2. Depressurize the fuel system by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls.
    3. Disconnect the fuel lines from the old fuel filter and remove it.
    4. Install the new fuel filter ensuring correct orientation.
    5. Reconnect the fuel lines and reinsert the fuel pump relay.
