Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: clean rags, new transmission fluid, new transmission filter, and a socket set.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent accidental electrical shorts.
2. Drain the Old Fluid
  • Locate the transmission drain plug under the vehicle.
  • Use a socket set to remove the drain plug and allow the old fluid to drain into a suitable container.
  • Replace the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications.
3. Replace the Transmission Filter
  • Remove the transmission pan by unscrewing the bolts with a socket set.
  • Carefully lower the pan and remove the old filter from the transmission.
  • Install the new filter according to specifications and secure it in place.
4. Clean the Transmission Pan
  • Clean the inside of the transmission pan thoroughly using a solvent.
  • Replace the pan gasket before reattaching the pan to prevent leaks.
  • Torque the bolts to the specified value in a crisscross pattern.
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Locate the transmission fluid fill tube and remove the cap.
  • Using a funnel, add the appropriate type and amount of new transmission fluid as specified in the vehicle’s manual.
  • Start the engine and shift through all gears to circulate the new fluid.
