Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
  • Raise the vehicle and secure it with jack stands if accessing the fuel tank from below.
2. Remove Fuel Tank Access Cover
  • Locate the access cover for the fuel tank (if applicable).
  • Remove screws or bolts securing the access cover using a socket set.
  • Carefully lift the access cover to expose the fuel sending unit.
3. Inspect the Fuel Sending Unit
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel sending unit.
  • Remove the fuel sending unit from the tank by unscrewing the retaining ring.
  • Inspect the float arm for damage or blockage; ensure it moves freely.
4. Test the Sending Unit
  • Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the sending unit terminals.
    • At empty, you should see low resistance (close to 0 ohms).
    • At full, you should see high resistance (typically around 90-100 ohms).
  • If readings are outside this range, replace the fuel sending unit.
5. Reassemble Components
  • If replaced, install the new fuel sending unit and secure it with the retaining ring.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector to the sending unit.
  • Reinstall the access cover and secure it with screws or bolts.
  • Reconnect the battery.
