Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working.
2. Check Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Dipstick, funnel, transmission fluid.
  • Remove the transmission dipstick and check fluid level. If low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid as per the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Inspect fluid for burnt smell or dark color; if so, consider a transmission fluid change.
3. Clean Throttle Body
  • Tools Required: Throttle body cleaner, soft cloth, screwdriver.
  • Remove the air intake duct connected to the throttle body.
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a soft cloth and wipe the inside of the throttle body to remove carbon buildup.
  • Reassemble all components securely.
4. Test Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor
  • Tools Required: Multimeter.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the accelerator pedal position sensor.
  • Use a multimeter to measure the resistance and verify it matches the specifications in the service manual.
  • If it is out of range, replace the accelerator pedal position sensor.
5. Inspect Fuel Delivery System
  • Tools Required: Fuel pressure gauge, wrench set.
  • Attach a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and turn the ignition on (do not start the engine).
  • Check the pressure reading against manufacturer specifications; if low, inspect the fuel pump and filter for clogs or failures.
  • Replace the fuel filter if necessary and test the fuel pump operation.
6. Check for Vacuum Leaks
  • Tools Required: Smoke machine or carburetor cleaner.
  • Use a smoke machine or carburetor cleaner to check for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold and vacuum hoses.
  • Repair or replace any identified leaking components.
