Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, spring compressor, pry bar, impact wrench (optional), strut nut socket.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid any electrical issues.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and then secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front or rear wheels as necessary for access to the struts.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Front Struts:

    1. Locate and remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket and wrench.
    2. Remove the upper strut mount nuts from the engine bay (access may require removing other components).
    3. Carefully detach the strut assembly from the vehicle.
  • Rear Struts:

    1. Remove the lower strut bolts from the rear axle using a socket.
    2. Remove the upper strut mount nuts from the trunk or rear interior.
    3. Carefully detach the strut assembly from the vehicle.
4. Replace the Strut
  1. Disassemble the Old Strut:

    • Use a spring compressor to safely compress the coil spring.
    • Remove the strut top nut and detach the upper mount from the strut.
    • Remove the coil spring from the old strut assembly.
  2. Assemble the New Strut:

    • Install the coil spring onto the new strut and secure it with the strut top nut.
    • Ensure all components are properly seated and tightened according to manufacturer specifications.
5. Install the New Strut
  • Reinstall the strut assembly into the vehicle, reversing the removal steps.
  • Tighten all bolts to the specified torque values from the service manual.
  • Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
6. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Ensure that all tools are removed from the vehicle.
