Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock or shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool down completely.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Tools Required: Socket set
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove any bolts or screws securing the engine cover using the socket set.
    2. Lift the engine cover off and set it aside carefully.
3. Access the Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Ratchet and extension
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the ignition coils on top of the engine where the spark plugs are seated.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pressing on the tab and pulling them off.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Tools Required: Socket set
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Unscrew the bolts holding each ignition coil in place using the socket set.
    2. Carefully pull out each ignition coil from its respective spark plug well.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Spark plug socket, ratchet
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Insert the spark plug socket onto the old spark plug and turn it counterclockwise to loosen.
    2. Remove the old spark plug completely and set it aside.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench
  • Parts Required: New spark plugs (check OEM specifications for the correct type)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plug (if recommended).
    2. Thread the new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
    3. Tighten the spark plug to the manufacturer’s specified torque using a torque wrench (usually around 13-16 lb-ft).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place each ignition coil back into its respective position over the new spark plugs.
    2. Secure each coil with its bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors.
8. Reattach Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Position the engine cover back onto the engine.
    2. Secure it with the bolts or screws removed earlier.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tightened securely.
