Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, fuel pressure gauge, jack and jack stands, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the ignition is turned off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shock.
2. Relieve Fuel System Pressure
  • Remove the fuel pump relay from the fuse box.
  • Start the engine until it stalls to relieve pressure in the fuel lines.
  • Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable again.
3. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Lift the rear of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the fuel tank shield (if applicable) by unscrewing the bolts or clips.
  • Disconnect the fuel filler neck and any vent hoses attached to the fuel tank.
4. Remove the Fuel Tank
  • Support the fuel tank with a jack or suitable support.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors and fuel lines from the pump assembly. Use caution to avoid damaging the lines.
  • Remove the bolts securing the fuel tank to the vehicle.
  • Carefully lower the fuel tank and remove it from the vehicle.
5. Replace the Fuel Pump
  • Remove the fuel pump assembly from the tank by unscrewing the retaining ring.
  • Disconnect the old pump from the assembly and replace it with the new pump. Ensure the new pump has a new strainer attached.
  • Reinstall the pump assembly in the tank and secure with the retaining ring.
6. Reinstall the Fuel Tank
  • Raise the fuel tank back into position and secure it with bolts.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors to the pump assembly.
  • Reattach the fuel filler neck and vent hoses.
7. Final Steps
  • Reinstall the fuel tank shield (if applicable).
  • Reconnect the fuel pump relay in the fuse box.
  • Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position a few times to prime the fuel system before starting the engine.
