Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe location.
  • Disconnect the 12V battery to prevent any electrical shorts during the repair.
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
2. Inspect and Replace 12V Battery
  1. Remove the Frunk Cover

    • Use a socket set to remove the bolts securing the frunk cover.
    • Carefully lift the cover off and set aside.
  2. Disconnect the 12V Battery

    • Use a wrench to loosen the negative terminal bolt and disconnect the negative lead.
    • Repeat for the positive terminal.
  3. Remove the Old Battery

    • Unscrew any securing brackets holding the 12V battery in place.
    • Carefully lift the old battery out of its compartment.
  4. Install the New Battery

    • Place the new 12V battery in the compartment.
    • Secure with brackets and screws.
  5. Reconnect the Battery

    • Connect the positive terminal first followed by the negative terminal.
    • Ensure all connections are tight.
  6. Reinstall the Frunk Cover

    • Place the frunk cover back and secure it with the previously removed bolts.
3. Check for Software Updates
  1. Access the Vehicle Settings

    • Turn on the vehicle and navigate to the settings menu on the touchscreen.
  2. Perform Software Update

    • Select the "Software" option and check for any available updates.
    • Follow on-screen instructions to download and install updates.
4. Monitor for Parasitic Draw
  1. Reconnect the 12V Battery

    • Ensure all tools are removed from the frunk area before reconnecting.
  2. Test for Parasitic Draw

    • Use a multimeter set to measure current (mA) and connect it in series with the battery terminal to measure draw over a period of time.
    • Record any significant draw (greater than 50mA) and investigate further.
